How we work.

Stage 1. Initial Assessment / Planning

Before Mahi Rākau take over the day-to-day management of your assets, we develop management strategies to meet your objectives. We do this by taking the time to get a thorough understanding of your specific requirements and the goals you are trying to achieve. After all, every forest block is different and every landowner has a different objective.

  • Site index - determine growth rates and planting potential.

  • Map the forest area

  • Provide draft plan and management options

  • Complete land preparation and roading (where required)

Step 2. Ongoing Forest Management.

With a professional plan in place, Mahi Rākau assume the supervision and management responsibilities of your forestry operation. This includes forest establishment and planting, silviculture and all aspects of environmental and cultural protection.

Although maximising the financial return on your asset is a key priority, Mahi Rākau balance everything we do against the long term health of the environment and social benefits of the wider community.

Along the way, we pay strict adherence to management budgets. And we provide regular reports that detail how your forestry asset is performing.
